The oil painting by Frankenhauser in the Fine Arts Collection, “Oldly Weds No. 1,” was purchased after the Fine Arts
Festival of April 17-April 30, 1966. The artist said it was created while pursuing his graduate education. He noted
it was provoked by newspaper photos of married couples on golden wedding anniversaries who struck him as “largely
unhappy looking.” Frankenhauser also submitted entries into the Fine Arts Festivals exhibits of 1965 and 1967.
