Marguerite Wildenhain designed the ceramics art works shown on this page but did not physically create them. The cup and saucer were designed as a prototype for a German airlines beverage service in 1931 but was never put into production. Reproduction of the cup and saucer was done by the Meissen manufacturing company in 2000 as a patron gift for dignitaries to help celebrate the opening of the new runway at the Leipzig/Halle airport on March 24, 2000. It was donated to the Fine Arts Collection in 1991 by Henri Friedländer, Wildenhain’s brother. The tea pot was designed by Wildenhain in 1937 for submission to the World Expo in Paris that same year. It was produced by the Sphinx pottery in Maastrict, Holland. It is part of a tea service called “5 o’clock” which won second prize at the expo. The tea pot was donated by Gerry and Dean Schwarz in 2007.
